Angry Birds -- An Addiction

The first time I heard about Angry Birds I thought it was one of those sick video games where birds pecked humans to death or something. I totally ignored everything "angry birds" related and went along with my article writing.

Then one day, as I was browsing through the Android app market on my Sony Ericsson Xperia (I was looking for an app that would block unwanted calls), I decided to at least read the games' description. As I am an expert at downloading an app then uninstalling it when I don't like it, I decided it wouldn't hurt to try downloading a game.

After I installed the game, I went about doing a lot of other things and never got to play it (nor even look at it for that matter). Until that is, we started having power problems. Living in a small village in Punjab may have a lot of advantages but having reliable power supply is definitely not one of them.

The past couple of weeks, power has been enjoying playing hide and seek. Hiding mostly. We have had more time without power than having it. Without power, I cannot work. I have a lot of hours to kill. So I decided to try playing Angry Birds. I got hooked.

Let me first make it clear that I have slow reflexes so I have never been any good at most games. But Angry Birds, I love. I enjoyed those cute little red birds... though I find it a little weird that I have to launch them from a slingshot!

I find it enjoyable to try and discover the best angles to launch the birds so that the green pigs get destroyed. I have managed to survive the first level... aptly called "Poached Eggs".

Level 1 - Poached Eggs

Took me a while to get through all the challenges but I made it! whooopeeee!!! These days I am trying to get through all the second level... I am in no hurry... the joy is in trying to get three stars in all the challenges... or may be just two... but I never settle for only one star.

The game is so enjoyable that I play it with my Google Chrome too... I do find it easier to play it on my Android as I can make it all small enough to fit everything on the screen.

I love Angry Birds... they have made those power-less hours more bearable.. more exciting even. These days, when our village loses power (happens quite a lot, too) I grab my Xperia and play my newest obsession.... Angry Birds.
