The day I got my Kindle was the day I became obsessed with e-books. I always have been the bookworm and my bedroom is more library than anything else. I love reading and I have quite a collection of novels (me love fiction). But... after moving to a small village in Punjab, India... books became very hard to come by (at least the books that I like to read).
If I wanted the latest novel, I had to take a bus ride of over 3 hours long just to get to the best bookstore I know (in Chandigarh!). The ride is long, the books are sometimes not available and there are times when the trip is just not feasible. I have heard of the Kindle but I did not know if I could actually buy one here in India. So I settled for the next best thing, Kindle for PC and Kindle for Android.
I was able to buy my books online (e-books) and read them whenever I feel like it. But... its kind of tough reading through the mobile phone screen. I mean I love my Sony Ericsson Xperia but I have to admit... it is not exactly easy to read a book using it.
When it comes to my PC... well, we have more hours without power than with power and a laptop battery does not last forever. Not to mention trying to read anything on a laptop screen out in the sun can be a real headache.
Then, I got the Kindle....:)
It is as big as a normal paperback novel and it is rather handy to use. It is also a relief to find out that it is easy to read even outdoors in bright sunlight. Plus, the battery lasts a really long time if I do not turn the wi-fi on.
I fell madly in love with it today as I was accompanying my parents for my Mom's check-up. The trip was a rather long one and having my Kindle made the trip seem like mere minutes.
Although I miss the touch of paper and I still rather prefer a real book (it does not break even if it falls or even when stepped on)... the Kindle has made a spot for itself in my heart.
