I tend to read a lot. And when I say “a lot” I really mean A LOT! When I was still in high school all the way through college, my name featured in almost all the cards containing the list of borrowers that are stuck on the inside back cover of library books. At least within the Fiction section.
I also bought a lot of books. There was a time when friends would tell me that I probably contributed a lot to the sales of book stores. A few times… little o’ me managed to buy a book not realizing I already had bought it earlier (imagine my disappointment when I reach home only to find I already have a copy).
The teeny village where we live here in Punjab has no real bookstore. Same goes with the nearest town... although you can find stores that sell schoolbooks there. If I wanted to buy the type of books I love to read, I need to go all the way to Chandigarh which is over 100 kms. away (ouch!).
Imagine my great relief when I found out that I could download a Kindle app for my pc and read e-books at home. It was then I started to buy e-books. As much as I love reading real books (no offense to e-book and audiobook lovers but my idea of a book is one that I can touch, smell, feel, and dog-ear).
Last year, I got a Kindle! (I did the dance of joy the minute I opened the box hehehe). It changed my life! Finally I could read even during power cuts! Because here where we are, power cuts happen more often than you will ever believe.
I have downloaded more e-books (both paid for and free ones) than I could ever hope to read. At present, my Kindle has a total of 143 e-books. As much as I love to read, I need to make a list of what I would like to read first -- more like a schedule of sorts.
However, I also have audiobooks (courtesy of Audible.com). By the way, when it comes to audiobooks does one "read audiobooks" or "listen to books"? I need to schedule them too.
The way I decided to do things is to get the audiobooks into my ipod and listen to them as night before going to bed. The Kindle I use during power cuts (and those happen pretty often 'round here).
For the month of August, my list of e-books to read are as follows:
As for audiobooks, I shall be concentrating on the George R.R. Martin's Game of Throne books. Among those books are:
If you have some book ideas to share, please let me know and I will try to put it on my reading list for next month.
