Book Review: Delirium by Lauren Oliver

Delirium (Delirium, #1)Delirium by Lauren Oliver
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The power was out one day last week (well... frankly, it was out most of last week) and I had nothing much to do except pick up my Kindle and read. I choose the book Delirium to read.

The story is about a young girl named Lena (short for Magdalena) who is living with her aunt and uncle in Portland, Maine. In the world she lives in, "love" is considered as a very deadly disease. Because of that, people get a "cure" so that they do not succumb to it. People who resist the cure or avoid it are called "invalids."

Delirium is a dystopian novel which revolves around the idea of a world where people are not allowed to feel love. Adults are literally like zombies, unable to show any tenderness or any other feeling associated with love.

I find the book interesting and somewhat exciting. However, it is a long way from being comparable to the Hunger Games, Matched, or even Birthmarked.
