Book Review: The Shattered World Within

The Shattered World Within
The Shattered World Within by Patty Jansen
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received a copy of the book through LibraryThing in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

The book is actually a sci-fi fantasy novella and the story revolves around Zhyara who is the leader of an expedition that investigates a mining station that has not been reporting in. When he and his team arrive at the station, they find that they are only a handful people left and most of the inhabitants of the station have disappeared.

Zhyara and his team feel that the people within the mining station are hiding the truth. As they try to find out where the people went, they find a crippled craft and what they discover when they board the ship is something that they never imagined they would find.

The story also features flashbacks into Zhyara's past. The story of his relationship with his mother and his brother is interspersed with his mission to find out about the mining station.

This science fiction fantasy story is interesting and there is definitely some suspense. Although only a novella, the story is a good read.

  1. Thanks for pointing out a scifi novella. I love scifi, but at times it's nice to not have to pick up a several hundred page novel.
